Metropolitan Youth Arts & Technology for Students (MyARTS)

MyARTS, located in the Crossroads Art District in Downtown Kansas City, MO, is an art entrepreneurial program for youth ages 15 - 19. All MyARTS Young Artists go through a 72-hour unpaid apprenticeship, working in the Visual Arts Studio from a curriculum. Once they complete their apprenticeship, they rotate in each studio (Graphic Design, Ceramics, Visual Arts, Screen Printing, & Photography). They are then required to interview into a studio of their choice and upon acceptance into that studio, they become a paid employee of MyARTS. They will not only have the opportunity to fine-tune their skills within the studio, but they will also learn valuable marketing self-promoting skills.

All MyARTS Young Artist must meet the following criteria to be considered for an apprenticeship / job with MyARTS:

  • Between the ages of 14 - 19
  • Attend a Jackson County, MO High School at the time they enter the MyARTS Program
  • Have a Jackson County, MO address
  • Have a talent for art because they will be asked to present a portfolio at the time of their interview
